Ready for Upcoming Holi 2019
Holi is considered as one of the most revered and celebrated festivals of Nepal and it is celebrated in almost every part of the country likes in India, Sri-Lanka with lots of joy and happiness with colourful treats. Minor or localised parts of countries where Hindu resides like USA, UK, Australia and other countries also celebrate Holi. It is also called sometimes the festival of love where people resides all together and forget all types of bad feelings towards each other. The great Nepalese festival lasts for a day and a night. As well it is also called the festival of colours something that brings lots of positivity in our lives. In different parts of the country it is known with different names.
One of the major festivals of Nepal, Holi is celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety on the full moon day in the month of Falgun which is the month of March as per the English calendar. Holi is a famous Hindu festival that is celebrated in every part of Nepal with utmost joy and enthusiasm. On the day of Holi people play with different types of colours with their family, friends and their loved ones and at the end of they they show love and respect to each other with Abeer known as Red colour powder not chilli powder though and what makes Holi so unique and special is the spirit of it which remains the same throughout the country and even across the globe, wherever it is celebrated.
Entire country wears a festive look on the day of holi celebration. Market place gets buzz along with different activity as shoppers start making preparation for the festival. Various hues of abeer can be seen on the roadside days before the festival. Pichkaris in innovative and modern design too come up every year to lure the children who wish to collect them as Holi memorabilia and of course, to drench everybody in the town. Everybody starts drenching everyone with full bucket of water loaded with colours weather it’s from top of the house or terrace or any hidden part where you can’t see. You can never be safe on this day when you are travelling by Motorbikes or cycle. Forget about walking you are in more trap rather than travelling by vehicles.
Since that time people enjoy time with firelights and celebrate the victory of good over devil and also the triumph of devotion to god. After a well fulfilled and exciting day the evening will be spent in sobriety by exchanging sweet and festive greetings among relatives and friends. It is said that the spirit of holi encourages people the feelings of brotherhood in society and even the enemies turns friends on the day of holi. People of all communities and even religions participate in this joyous and colourful festival and strengthen the secular fabric relation of the nation. Thus the bonding of the holi and nation is truly great and stronger as ever.
Holi 2019
This year Holi is scheduled for 20th March 2019 in the hilly regions of Nepal, while it will be celebrated on the next day 21st March 2019 in the plain of Terai.
