The tiny capital of Thimpu has many interesting places to visit like Buddha points atop the hill with a view of the Thimpu valley, Tashi Choe Dzong, Folk Heritage Museum, Centenary Farmers Market, the new authentic craft bazaar, and King’s Memorial Chorten. Visit Punakha Dzong in Punakha located at the confluence of Po-chu & Mo-chu (male & female rivers) is agreeably the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan. . En-route Thimpu to Punakha is the Dochula pass (3140m) with 108 chortens is the viewpoint from where the spectacular Himalayan view of the eastern mountains can be observed in a clear day. Closer to Punakha is the Chimi Lhakhang ‘the temple of fertility dedicated to Drukpa Kunley. Explore the Phobijikha Valley, one of the beautiful valleys in Bhutan, at Gangtey. In Paro visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong and Kichu Lhakhang – the oldest temple in Bhutan then go for the ever-popular hike to the Taktsang Monastery ‘Tiger’s Nest’ (3120m) located at the vertical cliff defying all engineering logics which is located outskirts of Paro town. It’s believed Guru Padmasambhava flew on a back of a tigress and meditated here in the 8th century.
