Mera peak climbing is gradually becoming popular among trekkers and novice climbers. In order to have the feeling of hiking and climbing on snow and experiencing trekking in remote parts of the Khumbu region. Mera Peak is 2nd famous Peak after Island Peak along the peaks of Nepal Mountaineering Associations (NMA)

Mera Peak was the first ascent on May 20, 1953, by J. O. M. Roberts, Sen Tenzing. It Ranges in Mahalangur Himal. The Peak self rises to the south of Everest. The ascent of the Mera is technically straightforward. However, the heavy snow and the maze of crevasses can make the way longer to the summit. Besides the charming of climbing Mera Peak, the trek to its base camp from Lukla is rewarding. And little-visited yet un-spoilt region of Nepal with densely forested hillsides is a massive experience.

Mera Peak trek and climbing servers a gateway for high altitude trekking to go over Amphulaptcha Pass or Mingbo La. And also for climbing on Baruntse, Chamlang, and the other Himalayas climbing.

There are several approaches to the base camp beside the easy and normal route which is mentioned below. The normal route for climbing Mera Peak is North Face Glacier from the Mera La. At 5,300 m is the Base Camp which is on the Hinku side in the moraine below the ice. At 5,800m high camp is set near a rocky outcrop on the Mera Glacier.

The high camp proves to be one of the spectacular viewpoints in the Everest Region. Whereby You can see panoramic views of Kanchanjunga, Chamlang, Makalu, and Baruntse sweeping around from the east.  Amadablam, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega to the west. The giant faces of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse appear in the north.

For experienced  Mountain climbers, Mera Peak is a technically straightforward ascent. The main hurdle being proper acclimatization to the high altitude. These reasons make Mera Peak a very popular destination.
