Dolpo is a remote place of Nepal and then the  main features of this place is Shey Phoksundo National Park. The east side is bordered by the Dhaulagiri Himal ranges and whereas the south side is guarded by churi himal range. Trekking to Lower Dolpo takes you to the remarkable and worthwhile experience of a lifetime. The noteworthy place seen here are clean snowy peaks, ancient and isolated villages, rich wildlife, reliable Buddhist monastery, and wonderful lakes. BUT the people of this area are simple and warm-hearted with culture and traditions. Another equally important part is, cultural traditions of this place are basically same as of Tibetan Buddhist.

Trekking in this region gives an exposure to the High & Isolated Himalayan valleys, similar to the Tibetan highlands. The major highlight of this trek includes “Shey Phoksundo National Park” which is the largest National Park in Nepal. As well as  “Shey Phoksundo Lake” is another important destination of this region. The lake is totally free of aqua life, the crystal waters clearly explain that. This place is surrounded by rock, forests, and snow-capped peaks. This area has been described as one of the World’s “Natural Hidden Wonders”.

The trek starts at “Juphal” and then we will follow the trail to “Dunai”, then further proceeds up to “Tarakot”, way up to “Bang la” Camp. The highest point of this trek comes, after passing through the “Sanu Bheri” village, we then get to the beautiful “Phoksundo” Lake, which is also a part of the “Shey Phoksundo National Park”. Ever increasing altitude up to the maximum of 5,190m and daily 6 – 7 hours of walking. This trek is recommended for a fit and experienced trekker.

But the rewards are wonderful: the cool, clear blue color of Phoksundo Lake (3,611m); unique flora and fauna; a unique religion; diverse culture; colorful festivals; challenging passes; high snow-covered Kanjirowa Himal peaks and the list goes on!

Then, this has ensured that pine, fir, and birch forests as well as wildlife such as the rare snow leopard, rare Himalayan blue sheep, goral, thar, Himalayan black bear, langur and rhesus monkeys, like others rare maintain their strength in today’s world.  The people of this area are Known as Caravan of Nepal.
