BUMTHANG CULTURAL TREK- BHUTAN:

The lovely Bumthang valley is the religious heartland of the nation and home to some of its oldest Buddhist temples and monasteries. Bumthang Cultural Trek is through Choekhor and Tang valley, passing and visiting Bumthang remote villages, ancient temples, and even a manor of Ugencholing. This trek is so named because the opportunities to visit villages and temples are greater than on most other treks in Bhutan. Though it is relatively easy and a short trek, there is one day of a long climb and descent (about 500m) to Phephe La (3360). However, there is no significant altitude gain as with other treks and your night halts are all below 3100 meters (10,100ft).
This three-day Bumthang valley cultural trek passes through several villages on its meandering route through the Bumthang countryside and provides an exceptional opportunity for contact with Bhutanese rural life.

The season for the Bumthang valley trek in Bhutan: The trek is recommended from March to May and then again from September to November.

  • day 02 : Day Hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s nest (2-3 hours hiking)
  • day 03 : Drive to Thimpu from Paro (1 hour) and explore thimpu.
  • day 04 : Drive to Wangduephodrang via Dochu-La Pass (4-5 hours)
  • day 05 : Drive to Bumthang via Throngsa (6-7 hours)
  • day 06 : Sightseeing in Bumthang city including Jakar Dzong
  • day 07 : Trek from Bumthang to Ngang Lhakhang (300m), 5-6 hours
  • day 08 : Trek from Ngang Lhakhang to Ugyenchholing (3100m), 6-7 hours
