BHUTAN TOUR 5N/6D

Bhutan is a landlocked country in the eastern Himalayan region border between India and china in the subtropical region of South Asia. Bhutan is known as the land of the thunder dragon. Nepal lies close to Bhutan but they do not share any real border. Bhutan is a mountainous country like Nepal and it has a lot of natural beauty present if you are a true explorer.  Gangkhar Puensum is Bhutan’s highest peak and is the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. Bhutan has vast biodiversity to explore.

This monastery is on 1200 meters cliff built in 1692. The other interesting site are Kurje Lhakhang in Jakar, the temple was built around a cave with a body print of Guru Rinpoche is embedded in the wall.

Itinerary

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: from kathmandu to paro, drive to Thimpu.

    druk air flight to paro is one of the most spectacular of all mountain flight. flying from kathmandu, each flight is mesmerizing feat and offers exciting descent into kingdom of Bhutan. on arrival of airport our representative will receive at Thimpu, modern capital of Bhutan and overnight stay.

  • Day 02: full day sightseeing in thimpu.

    after breakfast sightseeing in Thimpu. visit trashichhoedzong, beautiful medieval fortress/monastery which houses most of government offices and kings throne room. it is also the summer residence of je khenpo, the chief abbot. then visit at national library where ancient Buddhist manuscripts and text.
    after that drive to art & crafts school. famous for traditional thanka paintings. here you will see the student at work producing intricate design on cloth. after lunch we will visit handicraft emporium where they have displayed beautifully hand Owen and crafted product. then drive to chorten, the stupa is build in the memory of Bhutan third king is popularly regarded as father of modern Bhutan. the statue and painting inside this monument provide deep insight Buddhist philosophy. overnight in Thimpu.

  • Day 03: Thimpu to punaka (3 hours drive, 75 km)

    after breakfast at punaka with a short stop at dochula pass (3,080m) briefly stopping here to admire the view and chorten mani wall and prayer flag which can be seen from this pass masagang(7,158m), tsendagang(7,060m), jejegangphugang(7,158m), kangphugang(7,170m), zongphugang(7,060m), a table mountain that dominates the lunna- finally gangkar puensum the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m. later visit punaka dzong, built strategically at pho chhu and mo chhu river built in 1637 by shabdrung ngawang namgyal to serve as a administrative and religious center as the region. punaka dzong has played an important role in Bhutan history. damaged by four catastrophic fire and earthquake. the dzong has been fully restored. after the drive to wangduephodrang is also famous for bamboo product, slate and stone carving.

  • Day 04: punaka to paro.(125km,4 hours drive)

    after breakfast drive to paro enroute visit simtokha dzong, oldest fortress built in 1627, it now houses the school for religious studies. Afternoon in paro visit ta dzong, the national museum of kingdom. originally built as watch tower, since 1967 it is serving as national museum of country and holding fascinating collection of art, artifact, thangka painting and Bhutan's exinitic stamp post. afterward walk down trail to visit rinpung dzong built in 1646 by shabdrung ngawang namgyal, first spiritual and temporal rural of Bhutan. dzong houses the monastic body of paro, the office dzongda (district administrative head) and thrimpon (judge) of paro district. overnight at hotel in paro.

  • Day 05: paro

    after breakfast drive north of paro valley to the ruin of drukgyel dzong from this fort Bhutanese repelled several invasion by Tibetan army. nearby visit traditional Bhutanese farm house which offer several insight of local people. then take an excursion to Taktsang monastery, most famous of Bhutanese monastery. it is said that guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of tigress and meditated at this monastery so it is called as tiger nest. the excursion to the monastery takes five hour to complete round trip. while return to paro visit enroute kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred of kingdom. overnight at hotel in paro.

  • Day 06: departure from paro to kathmandu
