Dolpa Region

Dolpo Region Treks is valley placed inside Shey Phoksundo National Park which was discovered for Buddhist worshipers by their deity. Till this day, Dolpo Region is able to keep its image as an original sample of Tibet . Himalayan black beer, Blue sheep and snow leopard are the most famous faunas of Dolpo region trek.

Dolpo Trekking happens in the mid-western Nepal along the north Dhaulagiri towards the plateau of Tibet which is cut-off from  rest of Nepal and sealed by snow most of the  time during the year. This is why Dolpo trekking region is totally isolated location of Nepal. Time has frozen in Dolpo since its early inhabitants started living here. The culture and the way of people here have also stood still during this time. Its plants and wild lives such as snow leopards and blue sheep make Dolpo Region Treks a special experience which cannot be forgotten so easly.

Dolpo Region being one of the highest plateaus inhabited in the world was not made accessible to the trekkers until the year 1989. Very few, those who got the chance to visit this land were only allowed to be there with special request of the government. After revisions in regulations were made by Nepal Government, a remarkable portion in the map of Nepal was suddenly accessible to the tourists and trekkers who explicitly loved mountains. Dolpo is an inclusion of  thirty villages along with monasteries at altitudes eleven to fifteen thousand feet. Its area is  about 2,100 sq miles in the north western frontier of Nepal and Tibet. Although Dolpo Region is in Nepal. Its people, religion and culture are that of Tibetan Buddhists who were descendants of a Tibetan nomadic tribe. These people first came down from Tibet in the 10th century and settled in the Dolpo Region. Isolated by the mountains and  passes Dolpo-pa (People of Dolpa) were not affected by the cultural and occupational revolution in Tibet in later years, this is one of the best examples of preserved culture i.e Tibetan Buddhism. Nonetheless there is a small pool of population  that practice a religion of animals called Bon Po which predates Buddhism  itself and many believe it actually is a precursor to the known Tibetan Buddism.
