Chandragiri Hill is located in the southwest of Kathmandu Valley in a place called Thankot. This beautiful place is 16 kilometers away from the valley which will take you approximately 30 minutes to reach there on a drive. The hill is 2551 meters from the sea level. Chandragiri Hills carry a historical significance. It is said that King Prithivi Narayan Shah the Annexer of Nepal saw the beautiful kathmandu valley from its top. Iegends claim Prithivi Narayan Shah meditated in these hills to summon the spiritual powers for unifying Nepal.

The base of this  cable car project is around 2.5 Kilometeres from Godam. A cable cab will take you to the top in 9 minutes. Before this there was only a way of 7 kms ride through the road or a uphill trek of 3 hours iif anybody wanted to reach the hill top.
