Rolwaling trek
Rolwaling trek lies in the west of Khumbu region and is said be to be one of the finest high mountain valleys in Nepal. The Sherpas residing in the Khubmu region call Rolwaling ‘the Grave’ for being buried down between steep ice giants. So it is one of the most difficult treks in Nepal that requires good health and good physical form and previous trekking experiences. And we offer you with the best among the best teams to help you get through with it!
But despite its difficulty, many trekkers have been able to reach this region. Trekking to Rolwaling is an opportunity to be in two famous mountain regions of eastern Nepal, Rolwaling and Khumbu. You will also get a chance to witness the beautiful snowcapped giants from a closer distance without having to reach high altitude and the path along this route includes gorgeous glaciers, different species of flora and fauna and the rich local cultures of the inhabitants.
One of the main features of this trekking route is the crossing of an adventurous mountain pass called the Tashi Lapcha. What makes Tashi Lapcha famous among all the trekkers is that one gets to view Mount Gauri Shankar (7,146 meters) right before their eyes from here. Legend has it that a mysterious yet highly celebrated yeti once made Mount Gauri Shankar its home but several research expeditions carried out to this mountain have been unsuccessful in finding the yeti.
Trekking to Rolwaling usually starts with an eight hour drive to Charikot from Kathmandu and takes you along the path to Tashi Lapcha. You will require some technical mountaineering skill and equipment at this point. From Tashi Lapcha you will continue the trek to Nepal’s largest glacier lake, Tsho Ropla and head to Khumbu region and finally reach Lukla from where you will fly back to Kathmandu. This trekking trail provides you with magnificent and jaw-dropping views of Mount Melungtse, Mount Dorje Lakpa, Mount Tashi Lapcha, Tsho Rolpa Lake and the breathtaking waterfalls, monasteries and landscapes.
A trek to Rolwaling is an ideal option for someone who is into adventure while enjoying the natural beauties. The combination of adventure with some really magnificent beauties of Nepal and the rich cultures is what makes this trek worth everything in spite of its difficulty.
