When exploring the Everest region, one of the top hikes to add to your trip is the Ama Dablam expedition. While climbing Ama Dablam is for professional mountaineers, the everyday trekker can head to the base camp of the mountain to see the peak from up close. Literally, Ama Dablam means “Mother and Pearl Necklace” depicting the perennial hanging glacier as the pearl. Ama Dablam (6,812m), one of the spectacular mountains in eastern Nepal is popular among the expedition enthusiast due to divesting beauty. The mountain is considered to be beautifully shaped and attractive. Mt. Ama Dablam is an iconic peak of Everest region and every traveler here sets the mountain in this pictorial diary. The mountain is probably most loved after Mt. Everest itself in the region.

Since, climbers have to cross thorny ice rocks and complete steep snow climbing, the mountain is regarded technically tough to climb. Before setting up for climbing of Ama Dablam one needs technical strength and good experience of rock climbing and mountaineering. Normally, mountaineers make 3 high camps to climb the mountain.

If we look back to the climbing history of Ama Dablam, the first ascent was made by Mike Gill, Barry Bishop, Mike Ward and Wally Romanes in March 13, 1961 via its south west ridge which is a famous route  till the date. No doubt, one can experience the stunning views of entire Khumbu region during climbing of the mountain. Among them Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Island peak, Mt. Makalu are the major.
