SIXTH HIGHEST MOUNTAIN CHO OYU EXPEDITION

Cho Oyu (8201 meters) is the world’s sixth-highest mountain; however, it is the easiest to climb among the other 8000-meter-high mountains. Ever since the Austrian team of mountaineers ascended the peak from Tibet’s side in 1954, the peak expedition is one of the most popular expeditions that Tibet has to offer.

However, not many attempts at the expedition from the Nepalese side as the south face of the Cho Oyu Mountain is very steep and challenging, so obviously, the route is rarely attempted. Tibet offers a very safe route to the mountain and provides access to modern mountaineering services. Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world. This peak is located on the border of Tibet and Nepal, peak is located 20km to the west of Mount Everest.

Nangpa La pass (5500m) which is west of Cho Oyu, this pass is the route of trade between Sherpa and Tibet people. Nangpa La pass is considered a border cross for the people of Tibet and the Sherpas of Nepal. some times illegal trade also takes place through this route. Most people of this region use yak as a carrier for trade material across the Khumbu region.

This expedition is considered as easy because this expedition does not have any such technical point and objective danger is also very low. Cho Oyu is translated in Tibetan as “the Turquoise Goddess”, from chomo = goddess and yu =turquoise.

Expedition needs proper planning, so our expert Sherpa climbing team will set up an advanced base camp before starting the climb. Also, further three camps are placed en route to the summit. The wind is one of the major obstacles to deal with during the expedition, so our Sherpa experts do strong planning to help you succeed with the Tibet Cho Oyu expedition.

We Himal mandap journey have years of experience organizing the fully organized expeditions to Cho Oyu from Tibet. We can take care of it all, starting from providing logistical support to obtaining expedition permissions also including high-altitude climbing assistants!

HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. less explored and expedition crowd is less.
  2. world sixth highest peak.
  3. one base camp and three higher camp in this expedition.
  4. nangpa la pass (5500m)
